We already wrote a blog about the automotive fluids you will find in your car, truck, or utility vehicle. Now, let’s talk about the filters. There are three or four filters in your automobile, all of which need to be changed at some point. Righteous Auto Care is going to list the filters below and the general recommendations for when they need to be replaced. It’s important that you consult with your vehicle’s owner’s manual to determine the exact duration between filter replacements as recommended by your vehicle’s manufacturer.
Every automobile on the road has an air filter. This filter is located in the engine and it cleans the air that flows into the engine before it is routed into the combustion chamber. Dirty air in the combustion chamber can cause engine performance issues and engine damage. This is why it’s important to have the air filter changed annually at a maximum or every 12,000 miles. A clean air filter boosts your engine’s performance and your fuel efficiency.
Not every automobile has a cabin air filter, which is why we said three or four filters in the introduction to this blog post. Check your owner’s manual to see if your vehicle has a cabin air filter. If it does, check to see the recommended changing schedule. On average, these filters should be changed every 30,000 miles at a maximum, but some manufacturers recommend changing them more frequently. If you don’t have a cabin air filter, don’t worry. Your air is being purified by irreplaceable netting.
The fuel filter removes contaminants and sediment from your diesel fuel or gasoline twice. Fuel cannot make its way into the combustion chamber until it is in its purest form. As with dirty air, dirty fuel will affect your engine performance and fuel economy. The fuel filter needs to be changed every two years at a maximum. If you drive 30,000 miles before the two years are up, change the fuel filter then.
Finally, the oil filter is one of the most important filters in your automobile. Oil circulates through your engine while it is running to lubricate the moving parts and clean them. As such, oil gets dirty while it is doing its job. To purify the oil before it circulates through the engine again, it is run through an oil filter. This filter gets changed when you have your oil changed.
